A popular Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade died of cancer on Friday. He was only 23 years old. His family released an emotional farewell video on his behalf to say a final goodbye to his fans.

The video, titled “So long nerds,” was shared with his 10 million followers. In the video, Technoblade’s father calls him “the most amazing kid you could ever wish for.”

Personal life

Technoblade was born on June 1, 1999 and currently lives in San Francisco, California, USA. He had three younger sisters and a brother named Chris. Technoblade had made a reference to a younger brother, although it is unclear if he is talking about Chris or if he had another brother. He also had a small dog named Floof.
Technoblade studied fencing in middle school. At the start of his YouTube career, he lived most of his time in California, attending high school and graduating from there. In mid-2018, after his gap year, Technoblade moved to Chicago, Illinois, for over a year and majored in English before returning to San Francisco after dropping out. In one of his Q&A videos from 2016, he said his parents were divorced. Until the end of his life, Technoblade lived with his father, as revealed in a stream when he forgot to mute his microphone. It was also revealed that his father owns a film studio.
Techno has made multiple references to ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) in his commentary videos and tweets. His ADHD was also confirmed in a September 27, 2014 Hypixel Forum post.
Techno never made an official “face reveal.” However, his face was featured in his special video with 100,000 subscribers, in the “Cooking with Technoblade” videos, and at the end of his stream “Playing Minecraft Hardcore with a Steering Wheel.” He was 6’2.5″ (189 cm) tall, but rounded it down to 6’3″. He was an agnostic atheist.

Cancer diagnosis

On August 27, 2021, Technoblade uploaded a video titled “where I’ve been” in which he revealed that he had been diagnosed with sarcoma in early August after experiencing pain and swelling in his right arm. The cancer was caught early by doctors, and Techno focused on chemotherapy. Later in the video, he urged his viewers to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and take the necessary precautions, as he was now immunocompromised and at higher risk. Since his announcement, he received support from content creators Dream, DanTDM, CaptainSparklez, and other members of the Dream SMP.[13] As well as Roblox YouTubers KreekCraft, HelloItsVG, and Ryguyrocky, as they used to be Minecraft YouTubers or watched him . After his announcement, the hashtag #TechnoSupport was soon trending on Twitter and other social media platforms for a few days.

Surgery and temporary recovery

On December 23, 2021, he filmed an update video ominously titled “I Almost Became An Amputee.” He said he had planned to have his tumor removed in surgery in October, but his doctors said they would have to amputate his right arm, and it might already be too late. After many referrals, doctors told Technoblade that he could undergo limb preservation, in which doctors would remove some of his bones and muscles, but they would also remove the tumor that caused his cancer in the first place. The second and more painful option would be a complete amputation of his right arm. However, the amputation reportedly did not increase his survival rate any more than the limb salvage procedure. They signed him up for surgery, but told him he would have to wait two weeks because the plastic surgeons were busy.
The surgery went quite well, although Technoblade was in tremendous pain the following week. They had to remove some muscle from his left leg to make it lifeless, but the muscle was used to replace the muscle in his shoulder. They also had to take out his right collarbone, leaving him with 205 bones that he joked took him beyond the level of a mortal. He also joked that his upper body strength was “rolled over” so he would have to cancel his unannounced boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Minecrafters vs. Cancer

On February 1, 2022, he announced the start of the Minecrafters vs. Cancer fundraiser, which was also a response to his cancer battle. Several YouTubers joined in by adding the fundraiser to all their videos, while Techno also posted the fundraiser in his streams.

On June 30, 2022, a video titled “so long nerds” was uploaded on Technoblade’s channel, in which his father announced his death, along with a short script that Technoblade had written about 8 hours before his death.
