Everyone makes mistakes and celebrities are no different. Since these are public figures, they should often weigh what they say before speaking openly as they may be subject to scrutiny. We have seen a whole series of sex scandals, secrecy affairs that have been suppressed by the public, rivalries between celebrities and feuds among ex-partners. In all cases, celebrities were their honest selves, making such controversial statements that they ended up in a soup! But there were some whose consciences stirred, and they thought it best to calm things down with an apology.
Let’s find out the B-town names that were controversial with what they said but later tried to get things right:
1. Salman Khan
As a figurehead for controversy, Salman Khan got into trouble for comparing himself to a “raped woman” while promoting his great “sultan” during a press interview in Mumbai. When one of the reporters asked him how he felt about the grueling training schedule he was going through for his wrestler drama, he noted that he literally felt beaten like a raped woman walking out of the ring after almost 6 shots long hours. Salman later regretted his words and said that he shouldn’t have made such a comment. He apologized for this and even asked journalists not to use it.
2. Payal Ghosh
Actor Payal Ghosh, who accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of raping her, had also drawn actor Richa Chadha into the controversy. Later she was sorry and apologized unconditionally to Chadha. Richa Chadha had the court filed a defamation lawsuit against Ghosh for “false, indecent, derogatory and unfounded” statements and sought reasonable damages. But it was settled when the apology arrived.
3. Yuvika Chaudhary
Yuvika Chaudhary got herself into hot water with the net brigade, which sparked her anger at the actress when she dropped a casteistic bow into one of her vlogs. In the special video she can be seen filming her husband Prince Narula while he has his hair cut. Soon the hashtag ‘Arrest Yuvika Chaudhary’ started trending. She later went on the internet to apologize for not being aware of the meaning of the particular term and now that she does, she regrets posting it in public.
4. Munmun Dutta
Actor Munmun Dutta from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma Fame sparked controversy when she exclaimed that she didn’t want to look like a particular community member. As always, Twitterati went into an uproar and did not spare her the backlash. Dutta quickly responded with an apology on her Instagram handle for not using the word to intimidate, insult, humiliate, or hurt the feelings of others. Her language barrier left her misinformed about the real meaning of the word and when she learned the real meaning she took the role off. However, it seems that people weren’t really convinced of their apology!
5. Kapil Sharma
The comedian Kapil Sharma also often remains entangled in controversies and scandals. He was causing trouble when he accidentally made a joke containing the name of a religious deity of the Kayastha community. Unsurprisingly, this didn’t go well with the members of the community who promptly demanded a public apology. He therefore apologized unconditionally on Twitter, stating that he didn’t want to hurt anyone because his job is about making people happy.
Well, all we’re saying here is that it pays to choose your words carefully, especially when you’re in the spotlight 24/7!
