Adrian Dunbar is slated to star in a brand new ITV crime series called Ridley.
The 62-year-old star plays the legendary Ted Hastings in the hit crime drama Line of Duty.
And now Adrian has been cast as a retired cop in the new drama that mirrors Ted’s action on the BBC One show.
What is Adrian Dunbar’s new crime drama about?
Adrian will play Detective Inspector Alex Ridley, who after years of engagement was pushed out of the job he loved.
But after 25 years as a homicide detective, he still doesn’t feel like hanging up his handcuffs.
ITV says Ridley’s replacement is Acting DI Carol Farman, Ridley’s former protégé.

Carol hires him as a counselor on a difficult murder case, but she soon needs him full time trying to find the killer.
The broadcaster also says the series is “inspired by real retired detectives who are rejoining the police for an advisory role with increasingly overstretched resources.”
What does Adrian say about his new job?
Commenting on the role, Adrian said, “I don’t think I’ve ever gone into a production with more excitement and enthusiasm.
“As an actor, I know how rare it is to get such a wonderful opportunity, and the combination of Polly Hill and Chloe Tucker on ITV and Jonathan Fisher on West Road Pictures means we’re in safe and creative hands.
“Jonathan and I worked closely on the hugely successful Blood series, and I’m confident we can bring some of that magic to Ridley.
“This is about bringing the team together and creating a show that audiences will find both entertaining and engaging.”
When will Ridley be on ITV?
Despite the announcement today (Wednesday June 2nd), ITV has remained silent about when we will be able to see the new series.
However, the broadcaster said filming will begin this fall.
