Anne Hegerty once announced that she had spent most of her life learning that she was not “good enough” for her mother.
The 62-year-old Chase-Quizer reported in an interview in 2019 about her childhood and admitted that she felt like a “family loser”.
At the time, Anne said she joined the game show when the governess changed her life.

“I feel so much safer. I’ve spent most of my life thinking I was the family loser. Now suddenly I am no longer! “
Anne admitted that she felt like a “family loser” because she was always “compared” to her “wonderful and fabulous” mother.
She added, “Compared to everyone else except my father, he was seen as the undue loser. I’ve spent most of my life being compared to my mom and everyone was saying, “Your mom is so wonderful and fabulous and amazing and amazing and you’re not good enough for her.”
Anne said “everyone loved” their mother and “loathed” their father.
She told the publication that people would say, “This girl is so similar to her father that she is not good enough for the other.”
The quizzer also said she felt that her mother was “conflicted” about the “competitive element” of doing The Chase.
Anne added that her mother would prefer if she was “charming and had social skills”.
The star is known as The Governess on The Chase.
Anne also stole the hearts of the nation during her stay in the jungle from I’m A Celebrity in 2018.
During her time in the jungle, Anne spoke openly about autism.

On the show, Anne and her co-stars Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace toured America.

During one episode, Anne was overwhelmed and withdrew from the situation while visiting a country music venue.
She told the cameras, “One of the things that are common with autism is certain sensory problems.
“Sometimes I just have to take myself away, be a little quiet, jump on the WiFi, do a little quiz online and I’m fine.”
