But when the interview ended, viewers complained that BBC Breakfast completely spoiled the episode.

On Twitter one said: “Thanks @mrdanwalker for the # Vigil spoilers on # BBCBreakfast … that’s one I can tick off the watchlist.”

Another raged: “@mrdanwalker @bbcbreakfast this is not a spoiler warning for Vigil. You told us that there is a Russian spy in the game !!!! It’s like saying that we will announce the winning goalscorer in England’s victory over Germany yesterday. “

This is not a spoiler warning for Vigil!

A third added: “@BBCBreakfast Well it doesn’t make sense to see #Vigil now that you’re running a spoiler!”

A fourth warned: “Avoid @BBCOne now if you want to avoid #vigil spoilers!”

In addition, a fifth tweeted: “@BBCBreakfast Cheers for the destruction of #vigil, which we were looking forward to today on iPlayer.”

He explained, “A bit of head-based drama today! After hitting the large glass window yesterday with my noggin, I was sent to A&E today because I was feeling a little shaky.

“A nice nurse at Barnet Hospital named Karina checked my vital signs, and the six-foot-tall consultant Erik Witt gave me a CT scan to look for any bleeding in my brain. Fortunately … everything is ok.

“I have to rest for a few days – so I stayed a bit behind – but ready to get back in next week.”

Dan will work with professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova on the show.
