BBC presenter Lisa Shaw died after suffering from blood clots, according to the family

BBC presenter Lisa Shaw’s family has issued a statement of her death.

The 44-year-old is said to have suffered blood clots after receiving the Oxford AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine.

The heartbroken family made the statement after the award-winning BBC radio host tragically passed away last Friday (May 21).

What happened to Lisa Shaw?

The BBC says a death certificate “lists the vaccine as one of the possible factors to be considered”.

Her family said, “She was treated by the RVI (Royal Victoria Infirmary) intensive care team …

“… because of blood clots and bleeding in her head.”

They also said that Lisa’s married mother had a “severe” headache “a week” after the vaccination.

This led to her becoming seriously ill “a few days later”.

Tragically, Lisa then died in Newcastle Hospital.

Investigation is ongoing

In response, the Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) issued a statement.

It said: “As with any serious suspected side effect …

“… reports with a fatal outcome will be fully evaluated by the MHRA, including an assessment of the post-mortem details, if available.”

The body also said that its investigation into the link between the vaccine and the blood clots was “ongoing”.

The risk of taking the Oxford vaccine is still “very low”.

What did Lisa’s family say?

Lisa’s devastated family said she now has a “Lisa-shaped hole” in her life.

“We are devastated and there is a Lisa-shaped hole in our lives that can never be filled,” said Lisa’s family.

“We will always love and miss her.”

They also said, “It was a great comfort to see how loved she was by everyone whose life touched her …

“And we’re asking for privacy at this point so we can grieve as a family.”
