Captain Sir Tom Moore died after contracting coronavirus and the British are calling for a moment of silence in his memory.
The fundraising hero died in hospital after needing help with breathing after a positive COVID-19 test.
He was at Bedford Hospital and, according to his daughters, died with his family around him. When the news broke, honors poured in, including from The Queen.
Calls for a minute’s silence
Now the devastated fans of Captain Tom are calling for a moment of silence in his memory, and some are suggesting that it should be tonight (Tuesday February 2nd).
One said on Twitter: “If anyone ever deserves a minute’s silence to think about it, it’s Captain Sir Tom Moore! Rest in peace and know that you made each of our mornings a better day. “

Yes, Captain Tom was able to fulfill his dream of vacationing in Barbados in December – a lifelong ambition. The break was before the UK government enforced the current strict rules on travel.
His Twitter account tweeted a message to followers during the trip and wrote: “Enjoy a nice family day in the sunshine of Barbados, #TomorrowWillBeAGoodDay.”
