The presenter said his “childhood ended on that day”

He said to host Lauren Laverne, “My mom was there one day and she wasn’t the next and that was it. This was 1984 and you had no advice. My childhood ended that day and I’m still not over it. “

Martin had nowhere to go with his friends for years as the loss worried him so much.

My mom was there one day and she wasn’t the next and that was it.

He “fought very, very hard” and, according to him, suffered from anxiety The times.

He told the newspaper, “I’m still not over it, just dealing better with it.”

Martin joined Good Morning Britain in 2019 after becoming the patron of the Grief Encounter charity.

Speaking to presenters Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid on the ITV daytime show, Martin said his mother’s death was “very sudden”. And over 30 years later, it was still something he found difficult to talk about.

He said, “It took me a long time to recover from this. I worked with the charity but when they asked me to be a patron it took me a few months to make up my mind.

“[That’s] because I can’t talk about it and the reason I became a patron is that in 30 years when someone in my position is asked about it, they have had the advice and work to sit here and not be in the discomfort I’m in right now. “
