Now Holby City has been canceled, shocked and devastated fans have set up an online petition to ask the BBC to bring it back.
The fans were shaken when the company announced that the long-running medical drama would end after 23 years in 2022.
But the fans have taken action and more than 2,000 people have already signed up.
What was in the petition after Holby City was canceled?
After BBC One announced it would be dropping the show, a page popped up on the internet.
It said: “Holby City has millions of weekly viewers and has won hundreds of awards.
“It’s also one of the most diverse dramas on the BBC – it brings stories from real people from all over society with all backgrounds and experiences.

“The combination of permanent characters and individual episode characters offers a wide range of storylines that highlight important topics and experiences in medicine and society.
“The show raised awareness of so many important issues for the public – be it mental health, grief, exploration of belief, or sexuality.”
Over 2,000 signatories
The site also made the link between the NHS and the pandemic.
The show helped raise awareness on a number of topics.
“The pandemic has shown the public value of the NHS, and Holby City is an important illustration of the work of the NHS …
“… and the problems facing the NHS and its staff and patients,” the petition reads.
“Sign this petition to urge the BBC not to scrap Holby City.”
At the time of writing the petition had collected over 2,000 signatures.

How did Holby City deliver the sad news?
The petition follows the shock announcement made this morning.
In a statement, the show said to fans on social media: “We are very sorry to have to tell you the sad news that Holby City will come to an end in March next year after 23 amazing years.
“We are so grateful to Holby’s wonderful cast, crew, writers and producers – and our millions of loyal viewers and fans for being part of our show.
“This difficult decision reflects the BBC’s commitment to doing more programming across the UK and better reflecting, representing and serving all parts of the country.”
In addition, the statement said: “Holby will be on the air on Tuesdays until next March …
“… and we will continue to bring you a regular dose of all things here with Holby until then.
