Who Was Suzy Lamplugh?

The disappearance of Suzy Lamplugh remains one of the most confusing mysteries in recent history.

The 25 year old real estate agent went missing on July 28, 1986 in Fulham, London.

The police never found any trace of Suzy again, and her body was never found.

Suzy was officially declared dead in 1994, allegedly murdered.

At the time of her death, there was no video surveillance, cell phone information, or DNA to trace her killer.

Who was Mr. Kipper?

On the day of her disappearance, it was stated in her diary that she had visited a customer named Mr. Kipper.

She was supposed to meet the man at 12:45 p.m. at a house for sale on Shorrolds Road.

However, there was no record of a Mr. Kipper with the real estate agents she worked for.

Eyewitnesses say they saw Suzy arguing with a smartly dressed man in a black BMW or Mercedes.

The police have not been able to identify Mr. Kipper for more than 30 years.

He is believed to be the last person to have seen Suzy alive.

Suzy Lamplugh suspects: John Cannan

John Cannan remains the prime suspect in Suzy Lamplugh’s disappearance.

Three days before Suzy’s disappearance, he had been released from bondage next to Wormwood Scrubs Prison – which was only 4 miles from Suzy’s place of work.

He had served five years of an eight-year rape sentence and his nickname in prison was “Kipper”.

The resemblance between Suzy and Shirley Banks, who John later killed, is remarkable.

Mr. Kipper’s photo customization is also very similar to John’s.

When he was finally arrested for the murder of Shirley Banks, John drove a black BMW like the one linked to Suzy’s disappearance.

Former investigating officer Jim Dickie believes John Cannan was responsible for Miss Lamplugh’s death.

However, John Cannan has always denied killing Suzy – despite admitting on tape that the police are not aware of all of his crimes.

Where is John Cannan now?

John Cannan, now 67, is currently serving a life sentence for the rape and murder of Shirley Banks in 1987 (15 months after Suzy’s disappearance).

The body of the newly wed Shirley was found in a Somerset stream six months after she was abducted from Bristol in 1987.

John Cannan is also a prime suspect in the murder of 25-year-old Bournemouth insurance worker Sandra Court.

Her body was found in a water-filled ditch on the Avon Causeway in May 1986.

DS Jim Dickie says, “A common feature of the murders of Shirley and Sandra is that their bodies were dumped in water.”

John Cannan is due to be paroled in 2022.

Why wasn’t John Cannan charged with the murder of Suzy?

Despite the evidence against him, John was not treated as a prime suspect in the initial investigation into Suzy’s disappearance.

There are allegations that the chief officer had an argument with Suzy’s mother because he believed she was behind media leaks on the case.

John was never put in an ID parade and key witnesses were not spoken.

He later became the prime suspect during the second investigation.

However, John Cannan was not charged with the abuse of procedure.

The CPS believed John had been the victim of a media trial.

They also accused the police of losing evidence in the original investigation.

Suzy Lamplugh suspects: Michael Sams

Michael Sams is currently serving a life sentence for the 1991 murder of teenage girl Julie Dart.

He was also convicted of kidnapping the Birmingham real estate agent Stephanie Slater in 1992.

However, in the 1970s, Michael had his right leg amputated due to cancer.

No testimony ever said that the so-called Mr. Kipper limped.

Therefore, he was expelled as a suspect.

Suspect Steve Wright

Steve Wright is serving a life sentence for the murder of five women in Suffolk.

We worked with Suzy on QE2 in the 1980s.

His ex-wife claimed he was on shore leave the day Suzy went missing.

However, QE2 records indicate that he was working and on board the ship at the time.

Unnamed suspect

Suzy was briefly dating an unnamed man at the time of her death.

She met him at a wine bar and he apparently lives on Shorrolds Road, the exact street she went missing.

However, he has a waterproof alibi for the day she disappeared.

In the footsteps of the killers will continue on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 10 p.m. on channel 4.
