Downton Abbey: The Movie will debut on ITV tonight, but the second film is slated for release in 2022, and an iconic character is reportedly killed in An Iconic Character in Downton Abbey: A New Era.
Fans of the historical drama are warned that the heartbreaking scenes will leave them “in flood”.
Filmmakers have already shot death, but its fate is sealed and is kept top secret.
Speak with The sunsaid a source that Downton Abbey writer Julian Fellowes wanted it to be “so poignant.”
Speaking of the scenes, the source said, “They are really going to leave fans in flood.
“There is heartache in Highclere Castle and not a dry eye in the cinemas.”
Downton Abbey first appeared on television in 2010 and starred with the likes of Hugh Bonneville, Joanne Froggatt and Dame Maggie Smith.
The historical drama set on a fictional Yorkshire estate between 1912 and 1926 and was a huge hit.

But although it attracted fans from all over the world, the show ended in December 2015.
However, in 2019, the Crawley family and staff hit the big screen in the Downton Abbey film.
The box office grossed a whopping 140 million pounds worldwide.
When can we see the sequel to Downton Abbey?
Rumors of a sequel to Downton started last year before they were finally confirmed by producers.
Then it was announced that Downton Abbey: A New Era would hit theaters in December 2021 – but the pandemic paid off for it.
Gareth Neame, the film’s producer, said in April: “After a very challenging year with so many of us separated from family and friends, it is great comfort to think that better times are ahead and we are next Christmas be reunited. “with the popular characters from Downton Abbey.”
However, the release date has now been postponed to March 2022.
The plot of the sequel is being kept under wraps, but it has been confirmed that Dame Maggie, Hugh, Jim Carter, Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery and Elizabeth McGovern will be returning.
Dominic West, Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock and Nathalie Baye will also join the cast.

The official title for the next chapter was at CinemaCon in Las Vegas that summer.
A trailer showed the Crawley family and Downton employees preparing for an overseas voyage, with Jim Carter’s telling Mr. Carson, “The British are coming.”
Scenes from a wedding were also teased.
