Drag Race UK’s Choriza May and River Medway have opened up about the shock double elimination this week following the fan riot.
On Thursday night, Choriza and River both left the competition after failing to impress in the Snatch Game and their lip-syncing. The decision outraged the audience.
It was something that was clearly unexpected by the queens, and River and Choriza said they didn’t see it coming.
Speak with Entertainment daily and other press, River said, “I was shocked to be honest. I thought to myself, ‘Is this really necessary? Would it be that bad? ‘ I think it could have been a lot worse, but I knew it was all part of the show, right? ”
“It was very strange because usually that means that RuPaul says your name first, that you are staying,” added Choriza. “So he said my name first and for a second I thought, ‘Yeah, I don’t know how I did it, but I did! And then River said’s and I said ‘yes, we’re both staying!’.
“But then I saw RuPaul’s face – much like the same one she had seen the week before. I thought, ‘Oh … maybe we’re going home together, babes. We held hands and it was magical. ”
Although the moment is tough and Choriza has since said it felt unfair, the two agree that they were grateful to see it through together rather than doing it alone.
“I can’t see myself doing this alone,” said River. “Imagine how awful that would have been? Having to go through it all alone and not having any of your best friends with you?
“Of course it’s not great that it was a double elimination, but I’m kind of happy that we got to experience it ourselves, that we had someone next to me who went through exactly the same thing.”

“Yes. It was very comforting to have a girlfriend with me,” Choriza agreed. “It almost felt like a privilege – it was very conflicting feelings because I didn’t want to go home, I didn’t want one of mine best friends going home.
“And I didn’t want us both to go home together. But at the same time it was so nice to have her with us. ”
“I think it’s better to go and people are so upset and desperate that you left than sometimes to stay too long and then people are glad you left,” said River.
“Of course I wish I had made it to the end. Naturally. But you have to make the most of everything that happened. And I think that we can do that, we can draw a lot of positive things from it and we can always whet the appetite for more. ”
