ED’s Top Ten Quiz Show Hosts!

Gordon Ramsay’s bank balance hits our screens tonight (February 24th), but does he have what it takes to make our quiz show hosts’ Hall of Fame?

Yes, here at ED! We’re counting down our top quiz show presenters now.

Does your favorite make our list with everyone from Bradley Walsh to Warwick Davis?

10. Gordon Ramsay

We put the fiery lazy-mouthed cook in 10th place just because we don’t have much evidence to justify a spot higher on the list.

He’s on screen tonight with his new show, Gordon Ramsays Bank Balance.

And while he can definitely cook a decent Coq au Vin, the jury is there on his quiz show and shows skill!

9. Jeremy Clarkson

Mean and moody and the host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire ?, Clarkson makes our list because when we land on the show we want him on the side to ask the host’s lifeline.

That, and of course he has access to a checkbook with a million pound limit …

8. Warwick Davis

Actor Warwick, who has become a quiz show host, is back on the screens with a new series from ITV’s Tenable.

We love him because he’s not afraid to tell participants that they are completely rubbish – sometimes more than once in each round!

We love Warwick for his open, honest, factual style of presentation – and the fact that it’s almost like he’s reading our minds at times when we’re barking our frustrations on-screen.

7. Phillip Schofield

There’s nothing square about the quiz show host at number seven – type in the only Phillip Schofield.

Schofe presents Solo without Holly Willoughby from This Morning and does an excellent job on The Cube.

Wall! Drop it!

He could put himself on the list if he donned the body’s white suit and tried some of the games for himself!

6. Gino D’Acampo

Ahhh the beautiful Gino gave his quiz show last year with the debut of ITV’s Family Fortunes.

He followed in the footsteps of famous hosts like Vernon Kay and Les Dennis and brought his own kind of fantastic humor to the show.

We especially love him for the answers, which get a little lost in Gino’s translation – and for his often flirtatious antics with the female candidates!

Please, sir, can we have more?

Ben Shephard at the turning point

5. Ben Shephard

Is there nothing a Ben Shephard man can’t do?

He brings a dip in our crotch on Good Morning Britain at the start of the day and is there to top it off at tipping point.

Without fear of showing his human side, we love the fact that Ben can’t help but giggle at the more absurd responses from participants – and burst into laughter.

Before COVID, we would have liked one of his nice hugs in the last round!

4. Danny Dyer

“Wall! Drop it!”

Danny Dyer has successfully switched from EastEnders landlord to quiz show host with most.

Its legendary one-liners and brilliant filing – John Barnes, we’re talking about you – made us hysterical.

The only thing stopping Danny from getting into the top 3 is his lack of a lockdown haircut – chop it off instead of pushing it back and you will replace Stephen Mulhern, Danny!

3. Stephen Mulhern

Stephen’s hit the top 3 for three shows – Catchphrase, the brilliant In For A Penny, and Saturday Night Takeaway.

And before the complaints flow in, he hosts the Ant versus Dec segment, in which they compete against each other. Well there!

What’s more, last weekend he did it in tight gold hotpants.

Michael McIntyre at the wheel

2. Michael McIntyre

When The Wheel started late last year, we weren’t exactly sure.

The catchy topic grew on us, however, and we love the fact that there are different celebrity experts in each episode.

But what we love most is the host.

Michael McIntyre is downright brilliant on the show – as evidenced by the fact that one celebrity guest even revealed that much of the show is largely scriptless.

When is the new series BBC ?!

Bradley Walsh on the hunt
No other quiz show host comes close to Bradley (Credit: ITV)

1. Bradley Walsh

There’s really no other quiz show host we could put at number one than Bradley Walsh.

The man can’t go wrong.

Whether or not he’s hosting The Chase, the celebrity spin-off of the newer Beat The Chasers show, Bradders puts on a quiz show of master classes every time he’s on the box.

A worthy winner, we think you will agree?
