How to use Facebook Dark Mode on Android
After a long period of testing the feature, Facebook seems to have removed support for dark mode on Android and iOS through the latest app updates.
Facebook’s dark mode option seems to have disappeared from the Android and iPhone apps. It is currently unclear why or how many users are affected. The option to enable a darker theme has become increasingly popular with users and app developers. Apple and iOS also offer their own system-wide support for dark themes.
In recent years, the number of apps that now support dark mode has steadily increased. However, there are still a number of popular apps that have not yet adopted this feature or made it available on both platforms. For example, although Snapchat dark mode can be enabled on an iPhone, it has yet to be made available on Android. In Facebook’s case, the company tested the feature with users in 2020 before making it available to all users.
Facebook Dark Mode? Why?
The social media giant started offering a Dark Mode on its desktop website version not too long ago. At the time, many wondered how long it would take for the mobile app to follow suit. It doesn’t seem to take too long, as the feature is now available for both the Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps.
It only made sense. Recently, some of the most popular Android apps have been given a dark mode. On that list are WhatsApp, eBay, and even the Google Play Store. Android even lets you schedule the use of dark themes (if you only want to use them at night, for example).
A dark mode or “theme” offers several advantages. These include the obvious “easy on the eyes” and “good looking” factors. However, it can also help save power on OLED and AMOLED displays.
Since Facebook and Facebook Messenger are some of the most used apps on a smartphone, it only makes sense to enable the feature. Your eyes will be grateful, especially at night.
Just make sure you’re on the latest version of the apps before following the steps below.
