However, his time at News of the World was later marred by controversy over alleged phone hacking.

An investigation found the newspaper had engaged in phone hacking, which was then believed to involve a number of celebrities.

However, in 2011 it was revealed that the phones of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler and victims of the 2005 London bombings had also been hacked.

In 2004, Piers was fired from his role at the Daily Mirror after serving as an editor for over a decade.

He was let go of published photos showing British soldiers molesting an Iraqi prisoner.

However, these photos were later labeled as fake.

At the time, the newspaper said in a statement: “The Daily Mirror published in good faith photos which it absolutely believed were real pictures of British soldiers abusing an Iraqi prisoner.

“However, there is now sufficient evidence that these images are fakes. And that the Daily Mirror was the subject of a calculated and malicious joke. “

Piers Morgan Leaves GMB: What Happened on CNN?

Following his TV success, Piers joined CNN, which is said to be worth millions in 2011.

At that time he replaced the legendary Larry King.

However, the late television presenter did not seem impressed with his replacement.

He is certainly an acceptable host.

Larry said of Piers, “He’s definitely not bad. He is certainly an acceptable host. He asks good questions, maybe he interrupts a little too much sometimes. I think it may have been oversold. “

Unfortunately, Piers failed to attract an audience and the show was discontinued after four years.

During this time on the show, he also angered some Americans by advocating for stricter gun laws.

When did Piers Morgan join GMB?

After working at CNN, Piers joined Good Morning Britain.

He joined the program in 2015 along with co-host Susanna Reid.

Before leaving, Piers successfully reported on the pandemic, Brexit and the US elections.

In addition, he received numerous Ofcom complaints from disgruntled viewers.

In the meantime, this morning, Susanna made a solemn declaration after Piers left.

She presented herself next to Ranvir Singh and said: “He has been my presentation partner from Monday to Wednesday for more than five years. During Brexit and the pandemic and other issues, he was a voice for many of you and a voice that many of you railed against.

“It will be very different for sure, but the shows go on and so on.”
