Grantchester Episode Five Cast – Shaun Dooley

Shaun Dooley joins the cast of Grantchester episode five as Johnny Richards.

Johnny is Geordie’s old army friend, and the appearance of the old friend puts a strain on Will and Geordie’s partnership.

ITV tells us, “Will and Geordie’s friendship is put to the test when an old Army buddy returns to Geordie’s life.

“Johnny is a lawyer and represents exactly the people Geordie puts away.

“But the bond between them in a detention center in Burma means Geordie is drawn to this morally gray character.

“Especially when Will’s idealism looks like naivety from a certain perspective.”

Says producer Richard Cookson, “References to Geordie’s time as a prisoner of war in Burma have been dropped since season two …

“When Johnny returns to his life, he not only wakes up old memories – he also digs up a terrible secret of guilt …”

TV fans will, of course, recognize Shaun Dooley from his most recent role as DCI Mike Braithwaite in Innocent.

He also played Clive Tozer in It’s a Sin, Doug Tripp in The Stranger, and Jeremiah Rawson in Gentleman Jack.

Shaun, 47, has also appeared on The Witcher, Doctor Who, Gunpowder, Jamestown, Broadchurch, and DCI Banks.

We especially loved him as Greg in Misfits.
