Hamish Gaman had to end the series after an injury


Dishing On Ice pro Hamish Gaman has retired from the series.

The skater grabbed a string in his hand and had to withdraw from the competition.

Hamish, who worked with Faye Brookes, will no longer skate with the Coronation Street actress, which ITV has confirmed.

An ITV spokesperson said, “Unfortunately we can confirm that Hamish Gaman, who worked with Faye Brookes, had to retire from the competition.

“We thank him for all of his hard work and wish him all the best as he takes time out to allow his injury to heal completely.”

Meanwhile, ITV confirmed that Faye will skate with Matt Evers – previously with Denise Van Outen.

It comes after ITV announced that the show won’t air this weekend.

ITV is canceling the show this Sunday

This year’s series has been plagued by problems, be it celebrity injuries or coronavirus diagnoses.

A statement from ITV said: “ITV has decided to stop Dancing on Ice this week and there will be no live show on Sunday February 21st.

“Every week, our production team and cast put on a fantastic show during incredibly challenging times.

“The well-being of everyone involved is important to us and we thought it advisable to take a week off at this point.

“It is of the utmost importance to us to keep producing the best television for our viewers and we look forward to resuming the competition next week …

“… With the show on Sunday 28th liveth February.”

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Emmerdale actor Joe-Warren Plant and his professional partner Vanessa Bauer left the series after testing positive for coronavirus.

However, fans are now calling for their return as their quarantine ends with the return of the show.

One viewer said: “Can @JoeWarrenPlant and Vanessa come back now because they will skip a week please.”
