Harry and Meghan’s podcast doesn’t end up at number one on the UK or US charts

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have suffered a blow after their Spotify podcast failed to top the charts in either the UK or US.

The 36-year-old Duke and the 39-year-old Duchess of Sussex released their first episode on Tuesday, December 29th.

And despite a lot of hype and an enchanting performance by their son Archie, they did not reach the coveted first place.

From New Year’s Eve Archewell Audio will be number seven in the UK charts.

It’s being beaten for one spot by Louis Theroux’s Grounded Podcast, and first spot currently belongs to the Joe Rogan Experience.

In the US, Archewell Audio is currently not in the top 20, but in 26th place.

Again Joe Rogan Experience dominated the charts at number one.

When Archewell Audio first launched in the UK two days ago, it debuted at number 17 on Spotify lists.

And in the US it debuted in the charts at 68.

Even so, it’s important to keep in mind that many of the top charting podcasts have been running for months, if not years.

Harry and Meghan’s Spotify deal is valued at between £ 20 million and £ 30 million.

In a joint statement, they said the series would put unsung heroes in the spotlight.

And in the “Holiday Special” premiere, they featured both James Corden and Sir Elton John.

Both shared their experiences in 2020 and how the troubled times brought them closer to their families.

Tyler Perry and Naomi Osaka also made brief appearances.

And so we don’t forget baby Archie who, at just 19 months old, wished the audience a Happy New Year.

This was followed by the little boy who giggled delightfully in the background.

Public relations guru James Henderson believes the Sussexes may still have a podcast hit on their hands despite a perhaps sluggish start.

Speak with The sunJames said, “Having access to very well-known people who are willing to talk about topics and their thoughts and experiences will always generate interest.”

But Majesty Editor Ingrid Seward told the same publication that she didn’t find the new starting episode very sincere.

Ingrid said, “There is something that doesn’t sound right.”

Before adding, “As for poor little Archie, I think he went out if he suits Harry and Meghan.”
