The sixth series of Line Of Duty is back – can we thank Jesus, Mary and Joseph? – (Sunday March 21st), and the returning peripheral character Terry Boyle seems to take center stage.
Hardcore fans of the successful BBC crime thriller will have recognized him from previous series.
But when has Terry Boyle been on the Line of Duty and what has been mixed up?
What happened to Terry Boyle on another Line Of Duty series?
In the aftermath of tonight, DCI interviewed Joanne Davidson and her team Terry Boyle.
They think he has something to do with the murder of journalist Gail Vella. Kind of.
And it’s not the first time Terry Boyle has been in close contact with police officers.
In the first series, Terry was an acquaintance of the men of the gangster Tommy Hunter, rather the boys – Ryan Pilkington, Carly and Dean, who cruelly exploited his learning difficulties and manipulated him.

Gang members used Terry’s apartment to hide the body of Jackie Laverty – Hunter’s associate – and an early victim of the victim line was thrown into his freezer.
When Terry saw it was being used, he called the police.
He was interviewed by PCs Karen Larkin and Simon Banerjee, who were frustrated with Terry’s inability to articulate.
They apologized and left.
Was Terry Boyle on any other Line Of Duty series?
Terry also appeared in the fifth series.
Elliott Rosen played Terry in the first series, but Tommy Jessop took over the role in the final run.
Ryan Pilkington still worried him, and he visited Terry with OCG members Miroslav and Lisa McQueen after the police called.
They were angry with him for not telling them about the attack on the print shop, the center of their activity.
Jackie Laverty’s body was still in its freezer, unmoved since 2012.
Does actor Tommy Jessop have Down syndrome?
Yes, 36-year-old actor Tommy Jessop has Down syndrome.
Tommy was the first actor with Down syndrome to appear in prime time in a BBC drama.
From a young age he showed an interest in acting, which surprised his mother Jane.
She said, “We were like, ‘Oh yeah, everyone wants to be on TV.’
“Let’s fix him up with some soccer and swim and then get him a job.”
Jane saw his love for acting and started a company for actors with learning difficulties in Winchester.
What was Tommy before?
Tommy has appeared in the BBC’s popular medical dramas Doctors, Casualty and Holby City.
He also starred in BBC One’s drama Coming Down The Mountain.
The one-off 2007 drama told the story of two fearful brothers, David and Ben.

He also played Hamlet in Shakespeare’s famous play.
Tommy is a groundbreaking actor, but even he has his heroes.
He says, “I admire Johnny Depp for his acting and Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Mark Rylance.
