Is Pooch Perfect cruel to animals?
Pooch Perfect has come under fire from the RSPCA.
The animal welfare organization has warned the show to “send out a worrying message” over concerns that the dogs will be treated as “fashion accessories”.
A dog in the trailer shows colored blue ears.
Although a veterinarian was on set during the filming, an expert told Spiegel his fears.
The RSPCA expert on dog welfare, Dr. Samantha Gaines said, “We do not believe animals should be painted or colored for cosmetic reasons.
“Our pets are intelligent and sentient. When we treat them in this way we get the worrying message that they are ours to objectify and treat as fashion accessories or toys. “
As a result of the criticism, the BBC has defended the show.
It insists that “the care and wellbeing of the dogs was of the utmost importance”.
