Alan Shearer starred in the show when he played for England at the European Championships 25 years ago.
And while it may seem like an old story now, Alan – one of the BBC’s Euro 2020 experts – has firmly established himself as a household name at the tournament.
His performance on the pitch at the 1996 European Championship was arguably the greatest of his career and led to him being hailed as one of the best English scorers of all time.
But things almost collapsed when he got caught up in a fight that could have cost him everything.
What happened during Alan’s night?
Alan, 50, admits that in his prime, he spent a couple of alcoholic nights with his teammates celebrating the success.

I think, oh my god, I’m getting dumped here for manslaughter.
He admitted feeling scared when he hit teammate Keith Gillespie during an alcohol-fueled argument.
Alan saw him fall to the ground and bump his head against the concrete from which blood began to flow.
Shearer was enjoying a trip to Dublin with his teammates when the two started arguing because Alan thought Keith was being rude to their waitress.
He said, “I looked at him and said ‘go out’ so we went out the door and I went first and he hit me on the back of the head, he hit me right.
“I saw the red mist and I turned around and hit it and I can only see it fall and fall and fall and it fell further back and hit its head against the concrete.”
