Who does Leonie Elliott play in Call the Midwife?
Leonie Elliott is an English actress who plays Lucille Anderson in Call The Midwife.
It’s been a regular series since 2018. Her first appearance was in the seventh series, episode one.
Her character, Lucille, is a Jamaican nurse who worked as an NHS midwife in the early 1960s.
Leonie became the first actress to play a West Indian midwife on the series – an achievement she is proud of.
she said The telegraph: “Even though Lucille is just a character, I felt I represented a generation of brave men and women who had so much influence on Britain.”

Then I added, “I definitely felt very obliged to properly represent and shed light on these people because they have done so much for the country and are often ignored.”
Meanwhile, the star says she thinks the show is so popular because it’s so human.
Speaking to the BBC, she said: “You get really human stories that we don’t see on screen very often.
“It’s also great because it teaches us to be more compassionate people.
“It’s also brilliant because women are at the forefront of drama and women are also at the forefront behind the scenes, which is so rare.”
How old is she?
Leonie was born on April 15, 1988. She has been 32 years old since March 2021.
She was born in Brent, London and her parents are Jamaican immigrants.
During the conversation with theyLeonie said her family are very proud of their success on Call The Midwife.
Leonie said, “They love that there is a Jamaican represented, especially my grandparents who came over and brought my parents with them – the idea that England is the motherland where the streets are paved with gold.
“When I got the role, I asked my grandpa to give me his first impression of England and he just said, ‘Cold: very, very cold,’ so I love having Lucille during the Big Freeze at Nonnatus House arrived [the famously cold winter of 1963]. ”
What else was Leonie Elliott in?
Leonie has been playing since childhood.
She appeared as Holly Lomas on the TV miniseries Undercover Heart when she was only 10 years old.
And in 2015 she starred in the television movie about the early life and career of Sir Lenny Henry – Danny and the human zoo.
She played the character Cherry Patterson.
Additional work includes roles in Black Mirror, The Bill, Holby City, and Casualty.
When is Call the Midwife back?
The tenth series of Call The Midwife has been temporarily suspended in film production due to the pandemic.
In fact, the filming of Series 10 wasn’t completed until February 19, 2021.
Unfortunately, there is still no exact broadcast date for the new series.
But we can only hope and pray that it will air within a few months!
And by the end of this year at the latest.
