The brand new detective drama Grace kicks off this weekend on ITV1 with John Simm as the unorthodox cop – but who is John Simm’s wife as an actress?
The first film, titled Dead Simple, will air on Sunday evening (March 14, 2021) at 8 p.m. on ITV1 and will take over the McDonald & Dodds slot.

What is John Simm famous for?
John Simm is an award-winning actor who is often associated with dark and somber roles.
He portrayed troubled teenage Bill Preece in the 1995 ITV police drama, Cracker.
Some television viewers consider it his breakthrough role.
Two years later he won the lead role of Danny Kavanagh in the first series of The Lakes, a BBC series directed by Jimmy McGovern.
In 1999 he starred in the second series of The Lakes and appeared as Jip in the award-winning cult clubbing film Human Traffic and Michael Winterbottom’s acclaimed Wonderland.
John is perhaps best loved for playing Sam Tyler in Life on Mars.
He has also appeared in State of Play, Clocking Off, Crazy Dogs, Crime and Punishment, Exile, Loot and Collateral.
His films include Everyday, Boston Kickout, 24 Hour Party People, and Miranda alongside Christina Ricci and John Hurt.
Russell T. Davies selected John in 2007 to play The Master, the nemesis of The Doctor on the long-running BBC series Doctor Who.
John took on the role because his kids are huge fans of the show.
John also formed the rock band Magic Alex, which played on two UK tours with the support of Echo & the Bunnymen.
He also played lead guitar on several of Ian McCulloch’s live shows, including one at Wembley Arena as the mainstay for Coldplay.

John Simm’s wife: who is he married to?
John Simm is married to Kate Magowan.
The couple married in April 2004 and live together in north London.
Kate is an actress and producer who is perhaps best known for starring in the 2007 movie Stardust.
She also starred in Spotless and A Lonely Place to Die in 2015.
Soap buffs will recognize Kate in EastEnders as Sadie Young, a role she played between 2013 and 2014.
Her first TV role was in 1998 as Helen Jensen on the Dream Team.

John and Kate have two children together.
Son Ryan was born in August 2001, followed by daughter Molly in February 2007.

John Simm stars the diehard detective DS Roy Grace in the ITV drama based on the novels by Peter James.
The Brighton-based character is a hard working police officer who has dedicated his life to job.
He is known for his persistent, albeit unorthodox, approach to crime solving.
DS Roy Grace is haunted by the disappearance of his wife Sandy, who disappeared without a trace 10 years ago.
John says, “The first time we met Roy Grace, he was diverted to investigate cold cases where his career was stagnating.
“Then his friend DS asks Glenn Branson (Richie Campbell) for his help on a case he is working on.
“Branson can’t stand to see Grace wallowing in this cul-de-sac after his wife disappears.
“Grace’s wife disappeared a few years ago and he couldn’t solve the mystery of what happened to her.”
Will John Simm be back as DS Roy Grace?
John Simm will return as DS Roy Grace in the near future.
ITV has already made a second film, Looking Good Dead, although a broadcast date has not yet been confirmed.
John says, “There have been 17 Roy Grace novels so far and the wonderful thing is that Peter James said he wrote the new ones with me in mind this time, which is great.
“He’s a prolific writer. I just hope people like what we’ve done and that we can do more. “
Grace will air on ITV1 on Sunday March 14, 2021 at 8 p.m. The second film, Looking Good Dead, will air on ITV1 later that year.
