Who is Amol Rajan and what is he famous for?
Amol Rajan is a British journalist, broadcaster and occasional food critic who has been the BBC’s media editor since December 2016.
He will be the fifth host of the flagship news show alongside Mishal Husain, Nick Robinson, Martha Kearney and Justin Webb.
The news was confirmed in March 2021 when Amol said, “Immensely humiliated and excited to join a team of greats on and off the air with the presentation line-up on @ BBCr4today.”
He is the first new presenter to be appointed since John Humphrys left in September 2019.
Amol was editor of The Independent newspaper from June 2013 to February 2016, when it only went online, although Amol remained an “Editor-at-Large” for a period until he was named the BBC’s first media editor in November 2016.
When he was only 29 years old, he became the first non-white editor of a national newspaper.
Previously, Amol was the secondary host of The Wright Stuff during his 2006-2007 series and was also the program’s researcher.
He has also presented The Media Show on BBC Radio 4 and guest hosts on BBC Radio 2 and The One Show.

Who is Amol Rajan’s wife?
Amol married Dr. Charlotte Faircloth in Cambridge.
Charlotte is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Social Sciences of the Institute of Education at University College London.
She has written several books in her field.
Amol and Charlotte are said to have met while studying at Cambridge.
Do Amol and his wife have children?
Amol Rajan and his wife Charlotte live in London with their two children, a son named Winston and a younger girl named Jamaica.
The One Show host rarely reveals much of his personal life and has not shared photos with his wife and children.
The last time he gave a brief overview of his family life was in January 2020.
He posted a picture of a baby’s foot next to the message: “The 5am dilemma. The feed went well, 160 ml straight in. Baby Jamaica – now four months old – immediately fell asleep again. But I didn’t belch her. So … do you transfer her back to your sleepy head without burping and hope she sleeps – or do you burp her first and risk waking her up if she decides it’s time for a party?

Amol was born in Calcutta, India, to a mother from Pune and a Tamil father from Kumbakonam.
Rajan was three years old when his family moved to England.
He grew up in Tooting, London.
As the son of Hindu parents, he now claims that he has not believed in God since his youth.

The One Show host is as famous for the earring in his left lobe as he is for his love of cricket.
In 2020, he bit back a critic who called him a “rude boy”.

To which Amol replied, “Of course I’m a rude buddy. First of all, my daughter’s name is JAMAIKA. “
A rude boy is a slang term for “lawless urban youth who like ska or reggae music”.
When Private Eye accused him of wearing “expensive earrings” in 2017, Amol replied, “I’m wearing a stud and from memory it was £ 1.39 in Claire’s accessories.”
