“I was totally devastated. I tried to write this post but couldn’t because I was too upset. “

James, who is married to former Strictly star Ola Jordan, said he is now raising money for The Brain Tumor Charity.

Star’s father had a fourth stage brain tumor

“My father had a fourth stage brain tumor – glioblastoma,” he explained.

“It was diagnosed about a year ago and I and my family watched it slowly go away.

“It’s an absolutely terrible disease. Cancer is terrible, no matter what cancer it is, but a brain tumor in particular takes a lot of identity away from the person. “

“Brain tumors are the biggest cancer killer in children and adults under 40,” he continued.

“Of the £ 600 million currently raised in the UK, less than three percent is going to fund brain tumors for treatment.

“I want to change that and I want to raise awareness because I don’t want any of you to go through what my father went through and what my family went through.”

James plans to shave his head

The dancer had hair much longer than normal and said he grew it out amid the coronavirus lockdown and also felt superstitious about cutting it while his father was still alive.

James said he was aware that his new hairstyle was “awful” and said he would shave it on April 13th.

The date is special as it is his 43rd birthday and a week before his father is buried.
