Acting legend Dame Judi Dench has reportedly laughed at her eyesight concerns.
The 86-year-old star was diagnosed with macular degeneration in 2012. Her mother also suffered from gradual deterioration in her eyesight.
However, it appears that Dame Judi – whose parentage is being investigated in “Who Do You Think You Are?”? – will never retire.
What is macular degeneration and how was Judi Dench influenced by the state of health?
Macular degeneration is a condition that can lead to blurred vision and even blindness.
Even so, it can be very debilitating and make it difficult for people to recognize faces, drive, or read.
Judi has shown that her deteriorating eyesight has a huge impact on her life and needs treatment every six weeks.

In 2019, she told Surrey Life magazine that she hoped it won’t stop her from being mobile.
However, it has affected their ability to go to the movies. And it was supposedly also the reason why Judi couldn’t travel to India in 2015 to film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
How Judi Dench deals with her poor eyesight
Earlier this year, Judi expressed her determination to continue working despite her vision problems. And she continues to do so with a lot of humor.
She joked during one Online event how the deterioration in her eyesight has resulted in her delivering lines in the completely opposite direction than her fellow actors are on stage.
I kept walking up to the wrong person and having a conversation and they said, ‘I’m not who you think I am.’
She also stated, “You can find a way to find your way around easily and to overcome the things that are very difficult for you.
“I had to find another way of learning lines and things by having good friends of mine repeat them to me over and over again.
“So I have to learn by repetition and I just hope that people don’t notice too much when all the lines are completely hopeless!”

When Judi spoke about her new film Belfast last week, she reiterated her intention to keep working. She said that Daily mail: “Retirement is not a word in my house.”
However, filming during the pandemic presented her with additional challenges, made worse by her vision problems.
All cast members and crew had to wear masks until they said their lines. But Judi still reportedly found humor in the problems she was having as a result of the situation.
She explained, “I kept walking up to the wrong person and having a conversation and they said, ‘I’m not who you think I am.'”

Judi discovers her legacy extends all the way to Danish royalty, according to previews for the second episode of the latest BBC series.
Appropriately, a link is also made between their ancestors and William Shakespeare.
