Kate Garraway: Finding Derek is a new documentary directed by Lucy Wilcox.
The one-time special follows Derek Draper’s fight against COVID-19.
It shows the devastating effects on Kate Garraway and her two children Darcey and William.
Here we take a look at Lucy’s career as a documentary filmmaker.
What did Lucy Wilcox say about finding Derek?
Lucy said that after months of filming with Kate and her family, she felt firsthand how much they miss Derek.

While talking about Good Morning Britain, Lucy explained, “This house misses him. You can feel it in the house and I think you will feel it in the documentation. “
She continued, “I just adore the family. Especially the children…. and Derek. I got to know him through the children and Kate. “
The documentary also features some of Derek’s favorite songs. They were given to Lucy via a playlist created by Darcey and William aka Bill or Billy.
Lucy added, “The documentary has difficult parts. But I’m so happy that we got the chance to take them in.

“Because they’re just the tip of the iceberg of what the family had to go through.”
Meanwhile, she said on Twitter that she fell in love with Kate and her family.
She tweeted, “When we get out of lockdown, some people will be left behind. Please have a look tonight. I fell in love with this family and I am sure you will too. “
What other documentaries has Lucy worked on?
Lucy has worked on many mainstream documentaries.
She is an accomplished documentary and series director – and has worked with some of the UK’s biggest stars.
Her previous directing projects include Kathy Burke: All Women, Wild Families and 24 Hour Police Custody.
What’s next for the director?
She is making a documentary for BBC One about Paddy and Christine McGuinness and their three autistic children.
The show is called Autism and Our Family and is expected to air this year.
Paddy said in a recent podcast interview for the documentary, “I felt like I was making a documentary about the condition and handling of things. Hopefully people will watch and be fine. If he goes through this, I shouldn’t be ashamed or worried about getting help. “

Former lobbyist Derek, 53, was admitted to intensive care last year and was in a coma for three months.
