Kate Garraway fears that her husband Derek Draper “has no life left” according to a news report.
In an interview with The Times, the British host of Good Morning compared Derek’s condition to a “horror story”.
Derek was hospitalized for coronavirus in March last year and was later put into a coma from which he emerged in July.
The 53-year-old is still in intensive care. He is believed to be the UK’s longest surviving COVID patient.

Derek has suffered a number of devastating medical problems as a result of the mistake. His health conditions included kidney failure, liver and pancreas damage, and lung infections.
The former political adviser has also lost eight stones and his heart has reportedly stopped beating more than once.
Kate Garraway on news of Derek’s possible future
Despite his long struggle, Kate remains unsure whether he will ever recover from being “locked in”.
She said and spoke to The times: “The worst moment was when they said he could be locked up forever. And I just thought this was a horror story.

“I don’t know if he’ll ever have a life again. We just don’t know. “
Kate has been warned that a good recovery is “highly unlikely”. Doctors have also told her that a “reasonable” recovery might be possible.
For example, that “reasonable” prognosis for recovery could be that Derek will be able to lift a hairbrush in the future.
The worst moment was when they said he could be locked up forever.
Kate was also prepared several times for Derek’s imminent death.
In one case, she was informed that he may have died. But after hours of calling and waiting for more information, it turned out that someone else with a similar name had passed away.

Mother of two Kate will soon be giving more insight into her family’s struggle in an ITV documentary.
The presenter will also meet other COVID survivors in Kate Garraway: Find Derek.
ITV said: “In a special one-off film, Kate Garraway offers an intimate glimpse into managing the effects of COVID-19 as her husband Derek Draper remains seriously ill a year after contracting the virus.
“Presenter and journalist Kate offers an unwavering account of the profound impact on her family and others when she first sheds light on the reality of the past 12 months.”
