Kate Middleton reportedly told Prince George that he would one day become King of England.
It is believed that the Duchess of Cambridge told her firstborn son the momentous news about his seventh birthday last July.
The couple are also parents to Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – and they say George “knows he’s very different from his siblings”.
How did Kate Middleton get the news to Prince George?
According to royal author Robert Lacey in an updated version of his book Battle of Brothers, Kate and husband William wanted to bring the subject up in a “controlled moment of their choosing.”

They are believed to have sat down with George last summer.
Lacey said the decision reflected “William’s dissatisfaction with the arbitrary manner in which the whole affair of his royal fate was buzzed around his head from the start.”
When was William told he was going to be king?
It is unclear when William was informed of his future role in the royal family.
Says Lacey, “William did not tell the world how and when he brought the big news to his son. Maybe one day George will tell us the story himself. “

Regarding George, he claimed, “But sometime around the boy’s seventh birthday in the summer of 2020, it is believed that his parents delved into what the little prince’s life would specifically entail in the future royal ‘service and duty’.”
He added, “William’s goal as a father, the prince emphasized, was to allow his son a normal family upbringing so that the monarchy would remain relevant and keep pace with modern times.”
Prince George knows that he is “very different” from siblings
Last year, royal expert Katie Nicholl also spoke about George’s path to the throne.
She claimed that George knew he was “very different” from his siblings. This is because he is often “singled out” to spend time with the Queen and Prince Charles.
Nicholl said the fact that Charlotte and Louis are excluded from the meetings means that George “understands that he is different from them”.
This despite the determination of William and Kate to raise their three children equally.
