The news that Kevin Clifton is leaving Strictly Come Dancing has devastated fans of the Grimsby-born dancer.
Still a big part of the Strictly family, he’s performing on It Takes Two and offering his opinion on the dances of the week on Twitter.
Today (October 12th) Kevin revealed some behind the scenes secrets and took the time to answer a number of burning questions from fans.
News Strictly: What Did Kevin Clifton Say?
Kevin participated in an impromptu Q&A session with fans on social media today.
During the chat, he revealed a snippet of how things work behind the scenes on the BBC dance show.
Kevin lifted the lid on who chooses the dances and music, and who determines the order in which the celebrities dance.

The first thing a Strictly fan asked was, “How do you decide which dance to do which week?”
Kevin replied, “In a theme week, it can be dictated by the theme you choose (i.e. which song is from your chosen movie).
“Otherwise it’s mostly coming from the producers trying to get a good pace and flow of each show. Avoid having too many couples doing the same dance, etc. “
Another wondered what happens when couples are given a song that “just isn’t right”.
“Have you ever tried to put a song on the pro and celebrity that just wasn’t right?” asked another spectator.
“I’ve never seen it before,” confirmed Kevin.
The pro has to fix the song before moving on.
“Myself and other professionals have said no to songs in the past when we felt it wasn’t right. The pro has to fix the song before moving on. “
He added, “Nobody is forced to make a song.”
The questions kept coming thick and fast, and another asked himself, “Who chooses the music for the dance routines?”
“It’s a two-way conversation between the pro and the producers,” said Kevin.
Finally he was asked: “Who decides in what order the couples dance?”
“Producers,” revealed the former Strictly professional.
Why did Kevin Clifton leave Strictly?
Kevin announced that he will be leaving Strictly in March 2020.
Because of this, he didn’t take part in the show last year and won’t dance on it this year.

He said he left to take on a role in the West End musical Strictly Ballroom, which was due to open in September 2020.
“To be honest, that was the main reason I decided to quit Strictly Come Dancing. It has always been a dream of mine to play this role in Strictly Ballroom.
“I was in contact with Strictly Come Dancing and said, ‘If this is offered to me, I can’t say no.’
“So I was offered the role, I said I was leaving Streng for a life in the theater … and then there was no more theater. So everything somehow disappeared or was postponed to 2021. “
