Producer Binaiferr Kohli who, together with her husband Sanjay Kohli, produces shows such as “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai!”. and Happu Ki Ultan Paltan believes that audiences always look up to female characters when it comes to saving the day on a TV show. She believes women are the real heroes on the small screen.
“On the big screen, men are the heroes and on the small screen, women are the heroes. Women are the motto. Most of the time they do the unthinkable and are expected to do the unthinkable and that’s why people look up to them. They are the real heroes on TV shows, ”she said.
But it goes against the popular belief that women are the bad guys on TV shows too. She said, “There are a lot of handsome men who play bad guys on TV. Even if it’s not a real negative character, they have too many shades of gray. There was a time when women played the antagonists, but that has changed. The content on TV has changed for the better and people are doing such real and understandable shows, ”she said.

“In real life, women are the only ones who are bad, there are men who are very mean at times, and our TV shows have adopted these concepts. Those little things add many twists and turns to the story and keep the audience intrigued too, ”she added.
Binaifer also claimed that men have started getting powerful characters on TV lately, something that hasn’t happened before. “Like I said, the content has evolved, as have the character sketches. Television doesn’t just have women-oriented programs. Like our show ‘Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’, it’s named after a man and revolves around him and his family, ”she said.
“And when you talk about other shows, Sudhanshu Pandey plays a very strong role in ‘Anupamaa’. His character is very real. Even the character of Shabir Ahluwalia is very strong on his show. Plus, Vibhuti and Tiwari have fabulous characters in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai! too, ”Binaiferr concluded.
