GMB has yet to find a replacement for Piers Morgan – at least ITV has yet to announce it.

But it seems bosses might abandon the search as Richard Madeley threw his hat in the ring.

The former host of This Morning has reported for Piers several times and wasn’t put off by the early hours of the morning or the intense exam that comes with the high-profile job.

The 64-year-old stated today (Tuesday April 20th) that he would welcome a call from Good Morning Britain Execs with open arms.

He said, “If the phone went off and they said, ‘Would you come in and talk?’ Of course I would talk to them. “

Before the Madeley Army got too excited about saying he was “crazy about”, Richard also admitted that he “loves sitting for people.”

He stated, “I have all the fun and very little of the responsibility or flak.”

But this is the man who wore ITV Daytime’s flagship show This Morning with wife Judy Finnigan for 13 years so he could handle it!

In the same interview with metroRichard was very blunt about how he felt trolling – something Piers is no stranger to.

Richard Madeley wasn’t afraid of the GMB trolls

He said, “I personally couldn’t give one [bleep]. Far too many younger moderators are affected and intimidated by Twitter.

“I remember when I started sitting for Piers at Good Morning Britain, I checked out Twitter after doing a program.

“And yes, you get some nice comments, but you also get terrible abuse and death threats from time to time.

“Of course, some death threats need to be taken seriously, but in my experience 99.9% of them come from sad losers with nothing better to do.

“I didn’t report any to the police because that would mean I would take them seriously. They should be treated with indifference.

“If someone reads this and thinks, ‘Right, well, I’ll try’, definitely because I won’t read it, and even if I did, I wouldn’t be giving a damn tuppenny.”
