RSVP’s Natkhat represents India at the Oscars. Here is an exclusive excerpt from the film

There are films with major releases that are hugely popular with audiences, and there are films that premier on streaming platforms that also impress audiences internationally. One such recent film from our own country, India, is Natkhat. The film makes claims for Oscars.

A short clip of the movie scene is making the rounds on social media. In the clip, Vidya Balan massages her child’s head and has a conversation with him. What seems to start out as an innocent conversation soon turns into a nerve-wracking and worrying one. The scene creates fear and intrigue in the minds of the audience and the film rightly makes an Oscar claim, with the scene revolving around a cruel thought.

Making it to the nominations is a huge accomplishment in itself, and Natkhat wants to do even better. The short film deals with a major achievement with an Oscar and takes up the sensitive issue of gender equality and uses it carefully so as not to take the wrong path in dealing with such sensitive subjects.

Directed by Shaan Vyas and written by Vyas and Annukampa Harsh, the film takes up a relevant topic in today’s world. It premiered on YouTube as part of the We Are One: A Global Film Festival. The film, produced by Ronnie Screwvala, was released on June 2, 2020.
