Rufus Hound has been replaced by Matt Richardson due to COVID

Dancing On Ice star Rufus Hound has been replaced by Matt Richardson after testing positive for coronavirus.

The candidate was previously forced to skip the show last week after coming into contact with someone with COVID-19.

Now Rufus has confirmed that he has since tested positive in a video message on YouTube.

Dancing On Ice: What Did Rufus Hound Say?

He explained: “Unfortunately the rules for Dancing on Ice are completely strict and dry, very strict because they have to keep everyone in this production as safe as possible.

“So it seemed like I had just quarantined, there might be a window of time for me to get back to the show, a window that I now know doesn’t exist.”

The 41-year-old comedian praised pro partner Robin Johnstone, whom he described as an “enormous buddy”.

Additionally, Rufus shared, “I’m grateful to ITV for everything they’ve done during that time and tried to get me back to the show.”

Meanwhile, an ITV spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Rufus Hound will not be able to return to Dancing On Ice this weekend after testing positive.

“Even though Rufus and his partner Robin spent too little time on the ice, they can really be proud of their achievements.

“We thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the show.”

It comes after Rufus receives the golden ticket from the show’s judges for his Super Mario routine.

Who will replace Rufus Hound?

With Rufus leaving the ITV reality series, Matt will step in as his replacement.

The 29-year-old comedian will be dating pro skater Vicky Ogden this weekend.

When the star was on Instagram last night (February 3rd), he gave a first look at himself on the ice.

He also gave the article a title: “Is that… is that Christopher Dean? No, just I’m so amazing. That’s good enough to be on the show in 3 days, right? “

Who is Matt Richardson?

Matt is now a presenter and comedian.

He is best known for hosting ITV2’s The Xtra Factor with the late Caroline Flack in 2013.
