Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Disney + Hotstar Multiplex and Zee Studios ‘Sanak – Hope Under Siege’ with one of the biggest action stars in the world Vidyut Jammwal, Rukmini Maitra, Neha. present a one-of-a-kind hostage drama at Hindi cinema Dhupia and Chandan Roy Sanyal hopes to change the game of action entertainment as this fascinating story unfolds in a besieged hospital.

While the hostage drama is a very popular genre in Hollywood with blockbusters like ‘Die Hard’, ‘Speed’ and ‘Raid’, ‘Sanak’s director Kanishk Varma confirms: “It’s a very popular genre in the West, but it’s very difficult to make to crack, “he explains.” ‘Sanak’ was born out of the lockdown because I was working on something else in January or February last year that involved four to five continents and then the lockdown happened I’ve been thinking of doing something that is production friendly that I can do in an enclosed space. I’ve always been a fan of Die Hard, which is a genre in itself. Movies like Speed and Air Force One ‘is actually’ Die Hard ‘on the bus or plane. It just became a genre in itself. “

“Similarly, in ‘Sanak’ there are many real life stories that we recorded and many books by popular author Vince Flynn that I took my inspiration from. So that the action sequences don’t repeat themselves, we designed them so that Vidyut fights in a hospital, in the MRI room, in the physiotherapy room or in the water therapy room, using the machine’s magnet train to disarm people. As we were designing action sequences for the film, I knew it should be an old Hong Kong style of action, much like Hollywood action superstars like John Woo and what people saw in the movie “John Wick” . Sanak offers ballet action. It becomes easy to take photos with Vidyut because he is such a brilliant martial artist himself. I think we did a good job trying to keep all of the emotion, thrill and intrigue in the film along with great action. Hopefully everyone will enjoy watching the movie as much as we enjoyed making it, ”adds Kanishk.

Starring Vidyut Jammwal, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Neha Dhupia and Rukmini Maitra (who is making her Bollywood debut), ‘Sanak – Hope Under Siege’ is presented by Zee Studios in association with Sunshine Pictures Pvt Ltd and will not be streamed until October 15th on Disney + Hotstar multiplex. It is a Vipul Amrutlal Shah production directed by Kanishk Varma.
