Sanjay Leela Bhansali talks about his motivation to become a filmmaker and his ambitious project Heeramandi

Recently, in an open conversation, Sanjay told Leela Bhansali the story behind her career as a director.

The director goes back to his childhood memories when he first saw a shoot: “I remember when I was a 4 year old and my dad took me to a shoot to watch – he went to meet his friends and he said you sit here, i just meet my friends and come and i sat in the studio thinking that this is the place that seems most convenient to me, more than one school, more than one Playground, or more than a cousin’s house or anywhere in the world, I thought this was the nicest place in the whole world and I watched a cabaret go on and they did it over and over again. But actually, what I remember most is that evening when my father told me to sit down here and don’t move or go anywhere. When I look back on it today and realize that I’ve been there for 25 years, the whole life after that I’ve dreamed of being here and I’m glad that I’m stuck here and doing what I have to do. “

The director remembers his fond memories of the theater where films used to be shown through projectors and goes on to say: “I still remember going to a theater as a child and watching a ray of light shine on them Projectors dropped screen, across from mine, my mind would never be there. My mind would be here and ghost particles float in and say, okay, one day my story will float. ‘

The director is looking forward to fulfilling his childhood dream and making a name for his cinema around the world, and is looking forward to making even more incredible stories for everyone. I think I did 9 films and made the 10th. It was 25 years and 25 years ago. ‘ says the director. The director has two highly anticipated releases including the theatrical release of Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt and the ambitious project about the pre-independence courtesans titled Heeramandi for Netflix.
