It is the confluence of two iconic entities in the Indian film and music industry. Saregama – India’s oldest and largest music label that has some of the most unforgettable musical gems in all languages in its repertoire. And Sanjay Leela Bhansali – an exceptional writer – whose visual art and magnificence can only be achieved through his impeccable storytelling and astute understanding of music. They have now decided to work together where Saregama came on board as a music label for three upcoming Bhansali projects. Those projects will be the highly anticipated and debated Alia Bhatt star Gangubai Kathiawadi, whose music rights have been acquired by Pen Studios, the next unnamed Bhansali director and his first non-film Hindi original album, the music of which is composed by him.

Speaking about this important partnership, Sanjay Leela Bhansali said: “A lot of my childhood memories consist of hearing the golden classics of Hindi cinema kept in the Saregama library and imagining my own world of stories. These songs and the music were an integral part of my formative years. What an absolutely delightful moment for me that the music from three of my most ardent projects will add to this rich heritage of Saregama in the near future. This is a special and personal collaboration for me. “
Vikram Mehra, Managing Director of Saregama India, noted this collaboration: “There is history that breathes in the golden libraries of Saregama. And we believe that history will soon be made again with our partnership with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In today’s modern era of Hindi cinema, few racing drivers have come close to the consistent brilliance he has shown in his films and the music he composes. His musical sense is unparalleled – he gives his stories a narrative purpose, and the songs stand on their own as that which goes beyond the immediate to find a more permanent place in our hearts. Saregama has preserved the work of some of the greatest talents in our music and film industries, and what a fitting addition this will be. I can’t wait for us to present the music from three of Bhansali’s projects to the public. It will be something special for sure. “
