Veteran Bollywood actress Shashikala died at her residence in Mumbai on Sunday April 4, 2021, despite official family confirmation being awaited. The 88-year-old actress lived with her granddaughter in their Colaba home.

Shashikala has made a mark in Bollywood films with her performance in supporting and negative roles. She has starred in more than 100 films including Junglee, Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Chhote Sarkar, Nau Do Gyarah, Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani, Khubsoorat, Baadshah, Kabhi Khushi, Kabhie Gham and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.
The seasoned actress won the prestigious Padma Shree Award in 2007 for her contribution to Indian cinema.
