Sonakshi Sinha makes her stand on farmers’ protest clear as major Bollywood celebs extend support to Government’s initiative : Bollywood News

Following pop star Rihanna’s tweet supporting the ongoing farmer’s protest, the Ministry of External Affairs in India issued a statement regarding the protests. The statement was issued with the hashtags #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda. While major A-list Bollywood celebs like Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar immediately tweeted in support of the government, actress Sonakshi Sinha let the world know where she stands on the matter.

On Wednesday night, Sonakshi took to her Instagram stories and shared a post by an Instagram handle called storysellercomics which explained that Rihanna and environmentalist Greta Thunberg’s tweets on farmers protest highlight the human right violations rather than technical knowledge of the farm laws which the farmers have demanded be repealed.

“The voices raised are about the violation of human rights, suppressions of free internet and expression, state propaganda, hate speech and abuse of power,” read one of the post shared by Sonakshi Sinha.

“Journalists are being harassed. Internet has been banned. Protesters are being vilified through state and media propaganda. Hate speech (desh ke gaddaro ko, goli maro sardaro ko resurfaced) is flourishing. THAT is the issue that’s taken global centre stage,” the post further read.

The Dabangg actress’s Instagram stories came a little after several Bollywood celebrities, and Indian cricketers tweeted in support of the BJP-ruled government’s hashtags #IndiaAgainstPropaganda and #IndiaTogether. In their statement issued after Rihanna’s tweet, the MEA wrote, “”vested interest groups are trying to enforce their agenda on these protests and derail them”. The campaign by the government came after international celebrities spoke about the government’s efforts to choke the farmers’ protest at Singhu border by cutting off internet, water supply and installing barbed wire and road spikes.
