Sonali Jaffar is the head and hand behind popular tube shows and a name to be reckoned with on Indian television. Associated shows include Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha, Tujshe hai Raabta, Qurbaan Hua. Sonali is a very busy person and takes some time to discuss a few things on television.
Even if the industry has made progress in terms of content, somewhere in all TV shows we can find a woman who occasionally becomes a villain. Adds Sonali, “I think women watch these shows most of the time and their problems in the house in this setting generally come from other women so this is preferred. Also a man who takes on a woman who doesn’t cut a good figure. I mean, it’s a sneaky compliment because two women conflicted with each other always make a better image than a conflict between a man and a woman, unless there is romance. I think two women can get a better picture, so I think it’s not convenient to do it, it’s done voluntarily to keep things interesting. “

Regarding the debate on the preference of female actors over their male counterparts on television, Sonali shares her point of view. She also reveals about her upcoming production. “With every other domain owned by the man, I think that is the only space available to women. Of course things change, but they only change for the better. But most of all, I think that good content is what makes a show so successful. I feel like strong characters have been written, we’re planning a new show with a man running the story so let’s see how this works for us and maybe this will be the game changer, ”she adds.
It’s true that women should be respected in both real life and roles, but at times shows seem to go overboard and portray women as if they were next to God. And that makes them seem unreal at times. “Yes, I think women are generally stronger than men and it’s very well accepted emotionally and physically. Childbirth is also such a huge thing, only women can do it and that is the ultimate pain they go through. So yeah, anyone who looks up to women is natural, isn’t it? At the same time, we shouldn’t exaggerate. I don’t think we have to, because women are more powerful anyway, ”she says.

Sonali talks more about how it is widely believed that women rule the television screens as men dominate the big screen. Sonali ends on a different note. “I think good content dominates the television screen. Man, woman, or kid, we’ve seen so many shows that headlined regardless of gender. It’s just good content that works. Period, ”she signs.
