Sony Music appoints Sangeetha Aiyer as Director of Promotions

Sony Music India (SMI) today announced the appointment of Sangeetha Aiyer as Director of Promotions. Aiyer will lead SMI’s advertising strategy and activities across all media channels, expanding SMI’s content and artists into the repertoires of International, Bollywood, Pop & North, and optimizing advertising platforms, grassroots initiatives and partnerships. She will report directly to Rajat Kakar, Managing Director of Sony Music India.

With a career spanning nearly two decades, Aiyer brings extensive broadcast, film, radio, retail, and advertising experience to the role. He has worked with leading organizations such as NBCUniversal, A + E Networks, Network 18, Times Network, Star TV and Reliance Media Network.

In her most recent role as Marketing Director at NBCUniversal India, Aiyer held the marketing, digital and advertising mandate for Universal Pictures’ theatrical releases in India in 2020.

Prior to NBCUniversal, she led the marketing for the digital business at Network18 from 2019-2020, where she was responsible for the marketing and branding initiatives of the company’s digital platforms, including FirstPost, MoneyControl, CNBCTV18.com, News18 English and News18 Vernacular.

In her previous position as Head of Marketing and Digital, A + E Networks | TV18, she led the growth strategy for the joint venture, particularly for History TV18 and FYI TV18. As one of the key founding members of the joint venture, Aiyer was instrumental in leading the launch strategy of History TV18 and FYI TV18. He formulated bespoke production initiatives and marketed tent poles like The Greatest Indian. [email protected], OMG Yeh Mera India and Small Budget Big Makeover to name a few. Under her leadership, History TV18 developed into a digital powerhouse that delivered more than a billion impressions annually and received multiple national and global awards.

Aiyer is the youngest employee to support SMI’s strategy of expanding its presence to a wider variety of repertoires and genres in India and his commitment to growing a premium content business for all streaming, download, video and Cellular services in the country reaffirmed.
