Chase host Bradley Walsh was accused by a group of disgruntled viewers of “speeding up the questions” to help Jenny Ryan win on last night’s episode (Wednesday February 17).
It was a classic episode of the ITV quiz show in which Jenny, 38, defeated a three-man team in the finals within a second.
However, some fans claimed Bradley appeared to be speeding up his questions to help the chaser.
What happened at The Chase last night?
The team of Sue, John and Sophie scored 19 points in the last chase and defended a price pot of 18 grand. It had a great chance of beating Jenny.
The Bolton-born Slayer had other ideas, however, and she went through the opening questions.
But she soon got stuck and faced a race against time to catch up.

Just a few more seconds, Brad asked: “One bird in the hand is literally worth two in the …?”
Instead of jumping in for the simple answer, Jenny waited until the end of the question, but by that point the clock was up.
As a result, in the most dramatic of circumstances, the team took away the £ 18,000.

@ BradleyWalsh S14 E78. The hunt. I’m not glad you rush your question about the pursuer when the time runs out but not about the participants. You have to use a constant speed or it will be a mockery of fair competition. #The hunt

What did viewers accuse Bradley of?
Despite the tense ending, viewers soon headed to Twitter accusing Bradley of rushing the question to Jenny when the clock ran out.
One disgruntled viewer wrote: “Answer me this #TheChase. Why is @BradleyWalsh spitting out these questions as fast as he can breathe for the pursuer?
“Show me the rules that he can do it faster than the participants!”
Show me the rules by which he can do this faster than the participants!
Another said, “I’m not happy that you are rushing to ask about the pursuer when the time is up but not about the participants.
“You have to use a constant speed, otherwise it’s a mockery of fair competition. #The hunt.”
Finally, a third commented: “Brad accelerates again, does does.”
What did Jenny say about the defeat?
For Jenny it was a case of what could have been.
After the breathless finale, Brad shouted to Jenny: “BUSH! I can’t believe you didn’t jump left in a split second! “

“If I had looked at the clock, I would have jumped in,” Jenny replied.
“My reactions should have been a little faster. I am of course angry with myself. “
