The doctor reveals that the young Prince Philip had secret heartache during the wedding

Young Prince Philip had “great disappointment” in his heart when he tied the knot with the Queen, as a new documentary reveals.

On Channel 5’s new programming, royal fans will see a side of the Duke they may not have seen before.

The wedding between Philip and the Queen took place on November 20, 1947 at Westminster Abbey.

It was a great occasion with the whole country celebrating the significant day.

Why was the young Prince Philip disappointed on his wedding day?

While it was a happy day for the prince, behind the scenes he was deeply upset about the guest list.

While his mother was by his side, Prince Philip’s sisters were nowhere to be seen.

“His father died during the war and his sisters were not invited,” explains an expert in the documentary.

“It was assumed that his sisters, who had married Germans, shouldn’t come because it was so soon after the war.”

It also shows that it was a “bitter pill” for him to swallow.

Philip’s upbringing had not been the easiest.

“He was essentially homeless,” explains the documentary. “Hadn’t had a family life since he was eight. So Elizabeth meant the world to him and he was very open to it. “

What happened between the prince and his grandson?

It has always been believed that the 99-year-old Duke of Edinburgh got along well with Prince Harry.

However, following her decision to move away from the royal family, Prince Philip reportedly walked away from his grandson.

The royal expert Ingrid Seward announced last year that the relationship between the two has “suffered”.

Ingrid said: “Philip greeted Meghan at the beginning, he knows what it is like to be an outsider and that’s why he is always very supportive of people who marry into the family.

“At first he liked Meghan very much, but her actions left bad taste and as a result, the relationship with Harry suffered.”

Ingrid went on to explain that Philip was so upset with Meghan and Harry that he couldn’t be around them.

“Of course it irritates him a lot,” she added. “And when they had the Sandringham Summit, Prince Philip was seen leaving the house very quickly before they all arrived. He just doesn’t want to get involved anymore. “
