Anthea Turner and the cartoon she posted on Twitter last week has led many to accuse her of insensitivity.
No more than Piers Morgan, who called her “despicable”.
However, the 60-year-old presenter has clarified and doubled her comments.
She now claims that obese people “willingly destroy” their own bodies and by losing weight could save the NHS.
What did Anthea Turner convey in her cartoon?
Last week, Anthea came under fire for the now-deleted cartoon she posted on social media.
In it, an overweight woman sitting on a scooter sipping a McDonald’s drink told a slimmer, younger woman that she wasn’t wearing a mask.

In subsequent tweets, she said obese people and their “lazy life choices” put the NHS at risk.
“Unfortunately, those of us who have really tried to protect the NHS by taking care of our bodies are paying the terrible price for those who have adopted lazy lifestyles,” she wrote.
What did Anthea say today?
In an interview with The sun Today (February 13th) she reaffirmed her message, despite apologizing for every “crime”.
“I find it really difficult and difficult to understand how someone lucky enough to be born with a good, working working body can then willingly destroy it,” she said.
It should never be about people who are overweight through no fault of their own.
“It should never be about people who are overweight through no fault of their own.
“This is about those who, at a time when this is more important than ever, are not adopting a healthy lifestyle because we have a very worrisome problem of obesity in this country.”
She went on to say that the cartoon is not about burning fat, but about saving lives and “other people too.”

How did Piers react?
Anthea’s original cartoon provoked the ire of GMB host Piers.
Quoting one of her tweets, he said, “You blame the victims who are lazy for more than 120,000 deaths?
