Sonu Sood today launched its new COVREG initiative, which aims to create the world’s largest volunteer program for Covid vaccination registration in rural India. The initiative, run by rural fintech leader Spice Money, will take volunteers on board through its website www.covreg.in. Once the volunteers have registered for the initiative, an app will be made available to them to help with the registration of Covid vaccines for approximately 95 million rural Indian populations, which make up over 65% of the total Indian population. Spice Money will provide the technological know-how for building the app. Spice Money is currently offering a redirect to the Cowin platform via its Adhikari app and web portal, which has been used by more than 2 lakh Adhikaris in rural India to register their customers for the Covid vaccination.
COVREG has been authorized by the Ministry of Health of the Government of India as an Application Service Provider (ASP) with proprietary CoWIN APIs. This will be the first ASP enabled B2B app to enable an assisted model in Covid vaccination registration in rural India.

The rural population of India continues to suffer from poor digital literacy and is therefore unable to take full advantage of the digital vaccination self-registration services that are offered to them. COVREG will address the challenges related to lack of digital literacy, infrastructure and accessibility in rural areas. COVREG volunteers will also work to remove hesitation about vaccines by educating beneficiaries and breaking common myths about them. The volunteers register rural citizens and book slots for the two vaccination doses, make sure they reach the vaccination centers, and also issue a certificate after vaccination.
COVREG volunteers are also trained to address issues such as lack of ID evidence, assisting beneficiaries in applying for a PAN card online. Anyone with a smartphone and 4G connectivity can become a volunteer by registering with www.covreg.in.

Spice Money’s extensive network of more than 5 lakh Adhikaris (bank correspondents) and partners, covering 95% of rural PIN codes in India, are used as COVREG volunteers to maximize reach in rural villages. The volunteers who are currently working at the Sonu Sood Charity Foundation will also become part of the COVREG volunteer network. The foundation has also set itself the goal of attracting a large number of volunteers to support the initiative in a targeted manner.
The Ek Soch Foundation, a partner organization, will be responsible for on-site volunteer management. Mobilizing such a large workforce will enable better penetration of the right information and education, and reduce fears in every corner of India.

Sonu Sood, actor and philanthropist, said: “Vaccination is the order of the day in India to win the fight against COVID-19. Rural India continues to struggle with the pandemic and is now also struggling with vaccine registrations. So COVREG was created on the basis of a detailed understanding of rural India and its needs, which was observed in months of work on site. COVREG addresses rural-specific vaccine registration issues and provides much-needed assistance to reluctant rural citizens. The trust that a volunteer from the neighborhood guarantees will be an additional impetus for registration. “
Dilip Modi, Founder, Spice Money“Vaccinating the rural population is the only way to contain the spread of Covid 19 and rebuild rural livelihoods. To address the challenges faced by rural residents registering for vaccinations, we developed this assisted model from COVREG, where rural volunteer volunteers hold hands throughout the vaccination price, making it easy to book both vaccine doses. We have always been passionate about Sonu Sood’s philanthropic journey and partnering with COVREG is a step towards our shared vision of rural development. “
