Theaters used to be people’s escape from reality. Audiences waited until the day their favorite star’s movie came out or pulled out a great movie, but theaters have had to close since the pandemic took off almost a year ago. Now, almost a year later, we have good news – commercial analyst Komal Nahta.
Komal Nahta, Bollywood’s trade analyst, took to Twitter to share a message people have been waiting for. With all the shops opening slowly, it was only a matter of time before the theaters opened and we were allowed to work at full capacity. Nahta has confirmed that the government has passed orders to use 100% capacity of theaters.
The Indian government allows 100% seats in cinemas. The Department of I&B issues a guideline today.

Many films have chosen to wait and not access an OTT release directly. Now you can reschedule your releases. Since many films like “Sooryavanshi”, “83”, “Radhe” and many others are waiting for theaters to open, they can schedule their releases so that audiences come back and see their film in large numbers.
While the theaters have been open for the past year, it’s all about OTT. Although the theaters opened some time ago, the new releases and some other small films failed to attract a larger audience. This government announcement sounds like a game changer, however, and people should soon be able to enjoy movies with their friends and family on the big screen.
