Warner Music India has hired its first artist, RIKA, as part of its ongoing effort to bring Indian sounds to the rest of the world. RIKA is a singer-songwriter from London, whose background is half Indian and half Eastern European. It has already collected more than 25 million streams across all services.
India is increasingly becoming an area of global importance for the worldwide music industry. Warner Music India was founded last year and has already built strategic alliances with well-known labels such as Tips, Sky Digital and Ziiki Media.
RIKA was featured in the British “Sunday Spotlight” and won the Best UK Female Act at the Brit Asia Music Awards in 2019 and the Rising Star Award at the Asian Awards in the same year. The versatile artist was also honored with the Pride of India Award and was honored by BBC Radio 1 with pieces for “Best New Pop” and “Track of the Week”.
RIKA adds: “I am thrilled! I am blessed and grateful for Warner Music India’s trust in me and the opportunity to join them on a life changing journey. I am honored to be associated with Warner Music, which has a long history of finding and developing excellent artists. My goal is to be real in my work and to reflect the best of both worlds that I bring with me. “
Jay Mehta, Managing Director, Warner Music India, says “We are happy to be able to carry the music of this extraordinary and unique artist from India into the world. RIKA is a strong, young singer and we are confident that she will delight both Indian and international audiences. “
Keep up to date with Warner Music India soon to reveal RIKA’s melodic tracks.
