According to Netflix, the family survived this intense labor with “some understanding, a pinch of sarcasm and a heaping spoon of blatant honesty.”

“This unorthodox funeral home is only surpassed by the unconventional Bernard family themselves,” it said.

Why did the Bernards get a series on Netflix?

Bernard Funeral Services did a television advertisement in 2018 selling their services.

It showed a dead person in a coffin who was so shocked by the company’s low prices that he sat up and asked to be taken to Bernard’s funeral home.

The ad then went viral and gained worldwide notoriety.

Shortly thereafter, Bernard Funeral Services also introduced a drive through service, where customers could see and respect their deceased loved ones through a window outside the building.

In COVID times, this option has become an important feature.

What did people say about the drive-thru aspect?

Prior to the COVID pandemic, the Bernards’ memorial service was a destination for comedians.
