The murder mystery starring Martin Compston and Suranne Jones was followed tonight as the credits rolled for the final episode of Line of Duty.

Who is playing the main role in the vigil?
In addition to Martin Compston (Line of Duty, Traces) and Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster, Gentleman Jack), the series also features Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones).
Shaun Evans (Endeavor) and Paterson Joseph (Doctor Who, Survivors) complete the main cast.
Suranne said of the series when it was first announced, “Tom Edge created a thrill for a story set in a world I didn’t know about.
“The cast and crew at World Productions came together to tell this story. That is so exciting.
“Amy Silva is a brilliantly complex character who has gotten into a highly charged situation in which her authority has been weakened.
“We watch her cope with her personal trauma and loss at a time when she is questioning her relationships and life choices.
“It feels fresh and relevant.”
Rose Leslie added, “I was weaned from the BBC drama. And it’s exciting to be back working in a place where you feel at home with Tom Edge’s complex and gripping script. “
What is Vigil on BBC One about?
According to the BBC’s blurb: “The mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and death on board the submarine HMS Vigil bring police into conflict with the Navy and British security services.
“DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) and DS Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) are investigating both land and sea into a conspiracy that touches the heart of Britain’s national security.”
Where is Vigil filmed?
Vigil is set and filmed in Scotland and is supported by the National Lottery through Screen Scotland.
How many episodes does Vigil have?
Like Stablemate Line of Duty – with the exception of Series 6 – Vigil consists of six episodes. It was created by the writer Tom Edge. Some of the episodes are by Ed Macdonald and Chandni Lakhani. Directed by Bafta winners James Strong and Isabelle Sieb.
World Productions’ Simon Heath announced, “We are thrilled that the first drama from our Scottish office is such a timely and engaging idea that was brilliantly executed by Tom Edge.
“We couldn’t ask for a bigger cast, led by the brilliant Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie.”
When is the vigil?
The drama will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later that year. A broadcast date has not yet been given, but it is expected to land in the fall.
