Coronation Street received a shock in the aftermath of tonight (Thursday, December 31st) when it was revealed that Faye Windass was the one who attacked Adam Barlow.
During the soap’s 60th anniversary week, Adam was attacked by an invisible attacker.
In the week before his attack, Adam made many enemies on the cobblestones. He confessed to sleeping with Carla, his uncle Peter’s girlfriend, and threatened to report Gary to the police for the murder of Rick Neelan.
During today’s visit to Weatherfield, Faye tearfully admitted to her brother Gary and sister-in-law Maria that she had attacked Adam. But it was a case of false identity believing he was Ray.
Faye had worked for Ray Crosby. However, he forced her to sleep with him in a hotel. And before Adam was attacked, Ray forced himself to her in his office.

Coronation Street: Could Faye’s Admission Lead To Her Exit?
Talking about Faye’s confession and whether it could lead to her exit, Ellie told Entertainment Daily and other media outlets, “I hope not.
“No, I think if she went to the police and thought it was right, then that was right for her. I obviously think it’s a serious crime and that you can take your time for things like that.
“So I think if she goes to the police and tells them what happened when she goes to jail, I hope it isn’t forever.”
If she goes to jail, I hope it isn’t forever.
When Ellie talked about how long Faye’s confession could be hidden, she added, “Well, as long as she really keeps it under wraps. I think she’s definitely at the breaking point. She has so much weight on her shoulders and she doesn’t know what to do.
“She fights because she wants to tell people, but when she tells people [about Ray] then she thinks they won’t believe her. “
When asked if Faye feels guilty for the attack and if she would see someone else fall for her crime, Ellie said, “I think she really feels guilty about false identity.
“I think if it was Ray she attacked she wouldn’t feel so guilty. Obviously her intention is not to go in there and say, “I’m going to hit you over the head.” But it’s all anger that has built up.

“She wanted to show him that she wasn’t afraid of him. Obviously, it just so happened that it was Adam and not him [Ray].
“But I think she feels really guilty and too. I think she feels guilty for putting Gary into this situation.
“Because it obviously looks worse because of Adam and Gary’s relationship, it obviously makes him look like he did and she knows he isn’t and it’s all on her shoulders.
“I think the real guilt is there, but it’s more about getting Gary into the situation than the attack.”
